Learning Partnership with Malawi

Since Spring 2000 Stenhouse Primary School has been involved in a Learning Partnership with Embangweni Primary School in northern Malawi. The partnership began with children exchanging writing about their hopes and dreams as a new millennium began. With many exchanges of personal letters, art and language work since then, this international connection has provided the children in both schools with the opportunity to learn about the differences and similarities in their lives and education.

There have been exchange visits over the last few years providing invaluable experience of educational priorities and school life in our two countries. The visits have strengthened the partnership and the intention to develop the school links in the years ahead. Stenhouse has had several fund-raising events including tropical fruit tasting and a sponsored spell to provide much needed practical resources in the school in Embangweni.

The pupils in Stenhouse school have been really enthusiastic over these years to communicate with children in another continent and have learned a great deal from events during the school's Africa week, when there was great interest in African drumming and singing traditional songs.
