Welcome to the Stenhouse Primary School web site.

Take a look at our school

Built in 1930, Stenhouse School is a sound, functional building with small but well proportioned and attractive classrooms, all with a southern exposure.

A single wing houses the Nursery children and Primary One and Two. The older children and the Speech and Language Unit occupy classrooms in a two storey wing.

The whole complex is amply supplied with hard surface play areas together with a grass area adequate in size for most sporting activities.

Between the two wings of the school lies an attractive courtyard with grassy areas, tables and benches.
The courtyard has also been planted with a herb garden and an area for growing vegetables. These are cultivated by children, under staff direction, and money raised from selling the produce helps to fund the gardening.

By establishing a small pond and a few bird feeders, a surprising variety of wildlife is also attracted to the garden.

The Nursery comprises of a reception room, two large playrooms and an enclosed garden area with grass, tarmac and soft play surfaces.

There are two part time classes each with a maximum of thirty children. Ten children have a full time place.

Staff work with children in a stimulating and well-equipped environment, using every opportunity to develop the physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of each child.

Within the school are two fine halls which, in addition to providing general assembly and an area for school dinners and packed lunches, accommodate courts for badminton, basketball and all physical education activities
